Biography

Tiko Imnadze (b. 1996) is a multimedia artist based in Tbilisi, Georgia. Her practice centers on exploring the complex relationship between identity, history, and social change. Driven by an exhaustive and multifaceted research process, Imnadze presents fresh and nuanced perspectives on the subjects she investigates. Her work reflects a deep interest in historical narratives and mythological themes, which she reinterprets within the context of contemporary anxieties and social transformations. Through this lens, her practice offers a thoughtful exploration of the interplay between personal and collective identity, illuminating the enduring impact of history on modern life.

Artist Statement

I am Tiko Imnadze, a multimedia artist from Tbilisi, Georgia, driven by a deep fascination with history, mythology, and power dynamics. My work investigates how personal and collective stories shape identity and influence our perception of the world. Through sculpture, found objects, and multimedia installations, I explore how power manifests in visual culture and material artifacts. At the core of my practice is an exploration of memory—how narratives define our understanding of self and society. I treat found materials as urban relics, layered with cultural memory. These objects become vessels for examining the interplay between individual and collective identity, revealing how history continues to shape the present. Material selection is a fundamental part of my process. I carefully choose textures, colors, and forms that resonate with the themes I explore, allowing the physical properties of materials to enhance the conceptual depth of each piece. Whether through installations, sculptures, or mixed media, I let my research dictate the most fitting medium. By reinterpreting overlooked narratives and creating immersive experiences, I seek to challenge perceptions and provoke dialogue. My work invites audiences to engage with the complexities of their surroundings, deepening their connection to art, history, and contemporary realities.
